The recovery of injured midfielder Peter Ogechi provides hope for Shabana FC's resurgence as they prepare for the Posta Rangers clash.

Shabana FC have offered an encouraging update on the condition of their dependable midfielder Peter Ogechi.

The 30-year-old defensive midfield maestro had suffered a knee injury during a match against Ulinzi Stars on October 29 which raised concerns about the severity of the injury and its potential impact on his career.

Ogechi's absence from subsequent matches against tough opponents like Gor Mahia, Bandari, and Nzoia Sugar was felt by the team, given his significant contributions on the pitch.

"Our midfield Maestro Peter Ogechi has an injury, but he is recovering well and is expected to be back during the Posta Rangers game," the club wrote in a statement.

During Ogechi's absence, former AFC Leopards player Prince Ayeko has filled in, starting in the past three matches.

Under the guidance of caretaker coach Oscar Kambona, Ogechi will face stiff competition to regain his starting position.

Despite the challenges, Ogechi's contributions on the pitch have been remarkable, especially his scoring ability, which played a pivotal role in Shabana's promotion to the top-flight league after a 17-year hiatus.

Last season, the midfielder netted an impressive 14 goals in the National Super League (NSL), showcasing his versatility with goals that ranged from bullet headers to long-range strikes.

Despite his on-field skills, Ogechi was recently replaced as one of the team's captains, with the armband handed over to George Orako Onyango, who will be assisted by Justine Omwando and Rodgers Aloro on an interim basis.

This change in leadership may bring a fresh perspective to the team as they strive to improve their performance in the Premier League.

Shabana currently occupy the 14th position in the league table with a total of 10 points from 11 matches.
