Shabana: Fans left furious over waiver implementation for rescheduled Posta Rangers fixture

Shabana's latest communication over the implementation of an earlier promised waiver on gate charges has left supporters fuming ahead of Wednesday's clash.

Shabana FC has issued an update ahead of their rescheduled FKF Premier League (FKFPL) fixture against Posta Rangers on Wednesday.

The match, initially slated for September 28, was postponed after referees withdrew due to concerns about their safety at the venue, leaving fans who had already purchased tickets demanding refunds.

In response to the backlash, Shabana FC announced on October 21 that ticket prices for the rescheduled game would be waived for fans who attended the postponed fixture. However, the club has now clarified the implementation of this waiver in a two-phase plan.

"The prices for the upcoming matches against Posta Rangers and FC Talanta have been waived by 50% each. The adjusted ticket prices are as follows regular Kshs 100, vip kshs 250 and vvip kshs 500. We are delighted to offer this reduced pricing as a gesture of our appreciation for your support and to ensure a memorable experience for all attendees," wrote the club in an official statement seen by Pulse Sports.

While the club’s decision aimed to placate fans, it has sparked mixed reactions. Some supporters felt misled, interpreting the initial promise as free entry for the rescheduled game.

Others pointed out that fans who had paid full price for the postponed match are now being asked to pay half the price again without any refund.

One disappointed fan remarked on X, "I thought the Posta Rangers game was to be a free entry since we had paid for it. Then this waivers could come later on other 2 successive games."

While another wrote, "Posta Rangers game is supposed to be free, people paid but never watched the game. That's extortion."

Away from the gate charges waiver implementation, the Glamour Boys will look to redeem themselves against Posta Rangers after suffering a disappointing 2-0 defeat to a 10-man Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday.

Shabana currently sits 10th in the league standings with 12 points from 10 matches, boasting three wins, three draws, and four losses.

The rescheduled fixture presents an opportunity for Shabana to regain momentum and address both on-field and off-field challenges. Fans and stakeholders alike will be watching closely to see how the team and management respond in this critical period.
