The former Gombe United forward will make the move to LaLiga this summer

Eight-cap Super Eagles player Chidera Ejuke is reportedly close to signing for LaLiga giants Sevilla with Los Nervionenses reportedly agreeing on a deal for the 26-year-old.

Ejuke billed for Sevilla move

The former CSKA Moscow forward was a free agent after leaving his last club Royal Antwerp at the end of the 2023/24 season after one year in Belgium.

According to reports from transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Ejuke is set for the move to Spain after verbally agreeing to a contract with Sevilla, ahead of a free transfer to the seven-time Europa League winners this summer.

All that is left for the move to be ratified is the medical fitness tests and final signatures before Ejuke officially becomes a Sevilla player.

Ejuke’s career so far

Ejuke has come a long way since starting his football career with Gombe United in Nigeria in 2016 before moving to Europe a year later with Valerenga.

After a move to Heerenveen in the Netherlands, Ejuke moved to CSKA Moscow, where he struggled for regular game time before being loaned to Hertha BSC in the German Bundesliga for the 2022/23 season.

Following his loan spell, Ejuke had his contract with CSKA cancelled, allowing him to move to Royal Antwerp, where he scored three goals and provided four assists in his only season in the Jupilier Pro League.

While he has been compared with Nigerian legend Jay Jay Okocha, Ejuke has not had a similar impact on the Super Eagles, with only eight appearances to his name so far.

Ejuke enjoyed a run in the Super Eagles team during the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and played in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, but has not made an appearance since.
