Chelsea go to Servette with a 2-0 advantage

After a convincing 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of their Europa Conference League playoff tie, Chelsea travel to Switzerland with a solid advantage over Servette.

Goals from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke have put the West London side in a strong position to advance, but Servette will be determined to overturn the deficit at Stade de Genève on Thursday.

Team news

Chelsea will be without captain Reece James, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Additionally, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, and Raheem Sterling are not included in the squad for this competition.

Midfield duo Romeo Lavia (hamstring) and Moises Caicedo (knock) are both doubtful; Caicedo was substituted during Chelsea's recent Premier League win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Consequently, Enzo Fernandez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are likely to start in the middle of the park. Manager Enzo Maresca may rotate his squad, with Filip Jorgensen, Axel Disasi, and Pedro Neto among those expected to feature.

Servette’s preparations have been somewhat disrupted, with the team struggling to find form in recent weeks. Head coach Thomas Haberli will miss Victory Beniangba, who is still out with a muscle injury.

Enzo Crivelli or Jeremy Guillemenot will likely spearhead the attack, with Dereck Kutesa expected to retain his place on the wing. Despite a disappointing run of results, Servette has had a full week to prepare, which could offer them a slight edge in terms of fitness and tactical adjustments.

Predicted Line-ups

Servette (4-4-2):

Frick; Tsunemoto, Rouiller, Severin, Mazikou; Douline, Ondoua; Stevanovic, Antunes, Kutesa; Crivelli

Chelsea (4-3-3):

Jorgensen; Disasi, Tosin, Badiashile, Cucurella; Fernandez, Dewsbury-Hall; Madueke, Felix, Neto; Nkunku

With Chelsea holding a two-goal cushion, they are expected to control the pace and play cautiously, aiming to capitalize on any opportunities presented.

Servette, on the other hand, must be aggressive and clinical to overcome the deficit and secure a place in the next round of the Conference League.
