COMMENT Stranded Eagles Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham find out the hard way; there is no place like home
After snubbing Nigeria to represent England, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham have been left out of the Three Lions’ 2022 World Cup squad
The forward spent two years with Chelsea's first team and received mixed reviews of his time with the club's senior team.
While some felt that Abraham was out of his depth at Chelsea due to strings of poor performances littered across his two seasons, the forward was still regularly among Chelsea’s top scorers and finished as the Blues' joint-top scorer in the 2020/21 season when they were crowned European Champions even though he only found the back of the net 12 times.
He left the comfort of home for Roma in the 2021/22 season after Chelsea made plans to replace him with mega-signing Romelu Lukaku.
At Roma, Abraham once again showed his talents, scoring 17 goals in 37 Serie A appearances in his first season.
Abraham’s coy over future after Roma form attracts Premier League suitors
He scored a total of 27 goals in the 2021/22 season, helping Roma win the first major European title in the club’s history and its first continental trophy since 1961.
Abraham’s stock has risen since his move to Roma, and even with an underwhelming second season at the club, he is still on the radar of a host of Premier League clubs, including former club Chelsea.
