Super Eagles stars and players of Nigerian descent were in action in Serie A round 21
Round 21 action in Serie A has seen seven games played so far, a lot of which involved Nigerian players and players of Nigerian descent.
From Osimhen's goalscoring exploits with Napoli to Ola Aina's game-winning assist for Torino, here's how they all performed over the weekend in Italy's top flight.
Ola Aina assists Torino to victory over Success' Udinese
Super Eagles full-back Ola Aina notched his first assist of the season in the 48th minute with a superb left-footed cross into the box which was connected by Yann Karamoh to win the game 1-0 over Udinese.
Aina and Karamoh had been working on the connection since the first half with the Nigerian constantly finding the striker who failed to convert.
The game was Aina's first start since getting injured in October 2022 also against Udinese a game in which he scored his only game of the season.
On the other end of the result was another Super Eagle, Isaac Success who played the full game for Udinese but failed to find a way past the Torino defence.
Also involved were two players of Nigerian descent, Italian left w-ng-back Destiny Udogie and Dutch right wing-back Kingsley Ehizibue both started for Udinese as well.
Osimhen continues hot streak
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen extended his scoring streak with Napoli to five straight Serie A games with another brace away at Spezia.
The Serie A top scorer was on hand to head home a loose ball to make it 2-0 to Napoli after Kvicha Kvaratskhelia had opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
Both players combined again few minutes later as Osimhen tapped home from close range to score his 16th league goal of the season and his seventh in the last five games.
Lookman hooked off at half-time
Ademola Lookman's hopes of closing up the gap between himself and Osimhen on the scorers' chart suffered a significant blow as he fired blank and got substituted off at half-time.
9-men Atalanta were beaten 1-0 away at Sassuolo on Saturday night and Lookman was replaced by Jeremie Boga after an unproductive first-half display.
Dessers and Okereke unable to help winless Cremonese
Cyriel Dessers played the full 90 minutes while compatriot and fellow striker David Okereke remained an unused substitute for Cremonese in a 2-0 defeat at home to Lecce.
Cremonese remains the only team yet to win a league game in all of Europe's top five leagues this season.
Troost-Ekong awaits Juventus
Still to come, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong will be in action for Salernitana when they host Juventus on Tuesday night.
The 29-year-old only just joined Salernitana on loan from Watford but played the full 90 minutes on his debut to help seal a 2-1 win away at Lecce.
