Barcelona skipper Sergio Busquets has announced he will depart the Catalan club at the of the season after 18 years of service.

The Spaniard, who also retired from international duty in December 2022, leaves Camp Nou after racking up 718 matches so far, for Barcelona.

The tally ranks him third among players with the most appearances for Barcelona, after Xavi Hernandez and Lionel Messi, who are on 767 and 778, respectively.

His immense talent and ability to dictate the game has made him one of the best defensive midfielders of all-time.

In addition to his defensive and game-reading duties, he has added 18 goals and 40 assists for Barcelona to-date.

Busquets is also one of the most decorated players in history, with 32 titles for the Blaugrana.

The 34 year-old boasts eight La Liga titles won in 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2012/13, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2017/18 and in the 2018/19 campaign.

This is in addition to three UEFA Champions League trophies won in 2008/09, 2010/11 and in the 2014/15 season.

Busquets has as many FIFA Club World Cups to his name, including in 2009, 2011 and the club's last in 2015.

He also won seven Copa Del Rey Cups, seven Spanish Super Cups and three UEFA Super Cups, summing an absolutely colorful career at his boyhood club.

The World Cup winner will look to sign out in style with another Spanish La Liga title, as Barcelona leads the race with 82 points in 33 matches.

Their nearest rival, Atletico Madrid trails them by 13 points, with just five games to the end of the season.
