Dundee United have confirmed that Odada has earned a call-up to the Harambee Stars squad for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Dundee United's newest signing, Richard Odada, has earned a call-up to the Harambee Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Namibia this September.

This announcement, made official on Dundee United's website, confirms Odada as the first player to be named in head coach Engin Firat's squad for the September international window.

Odada, who joined the Scottish Premiership side in July, has quickly made his mark, even before securing a starting spot at Dundee United.

The club proudly highlighted his international experience, noting: "Despite being the youngest United player to jet off on national duty next month, Odada is the most experienced at international level, already boasting 17 Kenya caps aged just 23."

Kenya is set to kick off their AFCON qualifying campaign against Zimbabwe on Wednesday, September 4, in a home match that will take place at Namboole Stadium in Uganda. Following this, the team will travel to South Africa to face Namibia on Tuesday, September 10th.

Odada has been a significant presence in the Harambee Stars lineup, having been named in the starting eleven for the last 11 consecutive matches.

During this period, he has clocked over 1,000 minutes of action, showcasing his importance to the national team. His most recent appearance for Kenya was in June when he played the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Although Odada is yet to make his first start for Dundee United, having come off the bench twice in four league matches, his international call-up underscores his value and potential.

As the youngest member of Dundee United’s squad to receive a national team call-up, Odada’s journey with the Harambee Stars continues to be one to watch.

The formal announcement of the rest of the Harambee Stars squad for the AFCON qualifiers is yet to be made, but Odada’s inclusion sets a strong precedent for the upcoming selections.
