Celebrated ex-Kenyan international is paying back to the great county of Homa Bay for giving him a wife.

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) vice president Sammy ‘Ty’ Shollei has awarded Nyanza’s representatives to the Kenya Secondary School Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Championships Agoro Sare Sh10,000 for heroically stopping the rampant hosts Shanderema in their highly-charged Group A clash.

Shanderema had sent shock waves on the opening day by hammering North Eastern representatives Khorof Harar 8-0 and the same whipping was prescribed for Agoro Sare.

But the boys from Homa Bay County clawed back from a goal down and shared spoils with Shanderema much to the glee of Shollei.

The football administrator, whose wife hails from Homa Bay county, has promised Sh20,000 to Agoro Sare should they better the score line Shanderema posted against North Eastern representatives Khorof Harar to top Group A.

“I’m in full support of the my in-laws Agoro Sare. That region gave me a wife so I must stand with them always. Today it is only Sh10,000 but if they manage to top that group, I will add them another Ksh20,000 tomorrow,” a thrilled Shollei said after the game.

Agoro Sare beat Kiringari from Central 2-1 on the opening day of the competition and need to beat Khorof Harar by more than eight goals and hope that Kiringari do not lose to Shandarema.

Agoro Sare coach Fredrick Odhiambo Akuku expressed his delight after his charges managed to hold the much feared Shanderema.

“This is a fair result if you ask me. First of all, my team is playing at this stage for the first time ever so they had to overcome so much stage fright in addition to the dreaded opponents to get the result they did,” said Akuku
