Kitende joins St. Henry's Kitovu and Royal Giants to the semifinals and East African games.
St. Mary’s Kitende stepped up their title defence in the USSSA National Secondary School championship by eliminating Standard High School Zana by 2-1 to progress to the semifinals.
Habib Oloya gave the ten-time winners a first-half lead before Wakiso Giants defender Ronald Madoi doubled with his second of the season in the second half.
Standard High pulled one back through Hamza Ndagugira but that was reduced to a mere consolation as the experienced Kitende held on to the slim win.
Kitende will now put all their concentration on retaining the title and matching Kibuli’s record 11 trophies with a spot in East Africa already confirmed.
They’ll play the winner between East Africa’s defending champions Kibuli SS and AMus College.
In the other mid-morning match played, Ernest Ankunda scored the lone goal as Royal Giants surprisingly ejected Buddo SS from the championship.
The Giants from Mityana will now face St. Henry’s Kitovu in the semifinals on Friday.
