Ex-Gor Mahia defender Ronney Onyango is eying a historic European debut following his move to Sogndal FC.

Former Gor Mahia right-back Ronney Onyango is set to make his much-anticipated European debut after securing a move to Norwegian second-tier side, Sogndal FC.

The Kenyan international was officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday and is poised to play a crucial role in the team’s campaign this season.

“Ronney is ready to play on Saturday and can make his official debut against Aalesund. We hope to see you in the stands in the first game of the year at Fosshaugane Campus!” read a statement from the club during his unveiling.

Onyango’s move comes after a successful trial period where he impressed the technical bench with his performances in a series of friendly matches.

He initially sat on the bench in a match against Lyn, before starting in subsequent games against Hodd and Stabaek, showing consistency and tactical discipline.

The overlapping fullback has already blended well with the squad and is match-fit, having also maintained form during his recent call-up to the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars.

He featured for the full 90 minutes in both of Kenya’s World Cup qualifying matches against Gambia and Gabon, further cementing his readiness for top-tier football.

His European journey marks a new chapter in his career, as he becomes one of the growing number of Kenyan players making strides abroad.

With his defensive prowess, and attacking flair from the flanks, Onyango is expected to be a vital asset for Sogndal as they chase promotion.
