Rigathi Gachagua declared love for AFC Leopards, claiming loyalty before Manchester United and Arsenal, sparking fan hilarity.

Claws of Leopards gripped Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s heart before Manchester United and Arsenal even existed—at least, according to his bold claims.

In a passionate public display of nostalgia, the man famously known as Riggy G did not just stop at running the country but also ran back in time to remind Kenyans of his undying love for AFC Leopards, the football team of his youth.

Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1st in Bungoma County, a stronghold of AFC Leopards' most passionate fans, Gachagua took the podium and declared:

“Before the advent of Manchester United and Arsenal, we had a great contest in the 80s and 90s between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. During that time, I was a fan of football. I was and remain a great supporter of AFC Leopards.”

As the words left his lips, one could almost hear a collective gasp from the Ingwe faithful — a mix of pride, surprise and perhaps a little suspicion.

After all, here was a man so wealthy that he could probably buy the entire league, yet despite his enormous love for AFC Leopards, the fans could not help but notice one little detail: Riggy G had never set foot in any of their matches. Was he their long-lost talisman, or was this merely a case of political football?

The connection between the Deputy President and the team had suddenly become the hottest gossip in town creating the first of what many hoped would be a rigorous tradition of high-level political fandom.

But now, with Gachagua's political claws caught in an impeachment drama thicker than any AFC Leopards' defense, fans of the Big Cats are left wondering—will they miss him?

The Deputy President, who is currently battling accusations of corruption and divisive politics, might soon have more free time to watch matches.

However, his loyalty to AFC Leopards, just like some of his political promises, remains as elusive as an Ingwe goal in the last ten minutes.

In true AFC Leopards fashion the drama off the field now rivals that on it.
