Kenyan midfielder Richard Odada has quickly become a fan favourite at Aalborg and the latest statement of endorsement is the selection of his half-volley as September’s goal of the month

Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada’s great start to life at Danish second division side Aalborg continues after his half-volley was selected among 17 strikes as the best goal for the club in September.

The stunning striker, his second goal for the club, was scored on September 15 as Aalborg came from behind to draw 1-1 with Sonderjyke and in some style.

With Aalborg trailing 1-0 after 51 minutes, they went in search of an equaliser when a ball is lofted into the Sonderjyke box before a defender heads it out but the ball bounces before Odada connects with it sweetly on his right foot to draw level.

Aalborg fans assessed the goals through a vote, in which the Kenyan received 49.5 percent of the votes. Second place went to Melker Widell's long-range shot against HB Koge, which received 27 percent of the votes.

Odada scored three goals in September, opening his account in a 3-1 victory against Kolding 3-1 on September 3, and followed it up with the equaliser against Sonderjyke 12 days later.

His goal in last Friday’s 3-1 away win to Vendesyssel FF, which put his side 2-1 ahead, was his third for the club with all three nominated for the vote.

Aalborg scored 17 goals in both league and cup games as they won four, drew one and lost another in September to maintain their place at the top of the Danish second division standings with 27 points from 11 games, three more than Sonderjyke.

The four-time Danish champions are looking to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking following their relegation last season.

Odada has quickly become a fan favourite since switching from MSL side Philadelphia Union to Denmark in August and the latest vote is another show of confidence from Aalborg supporters who will be hoping that he can maintain the good form and turn the deal into a permanent move.

Aalborg will seek to continue their great run on Friday night when they play away to Horsens with Odada keen to start October on a high.
