FUFA opened up the applications for persons interested in coaching the Uganda Cranes on September 16th, two days after parting ways with Serbian tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.
Uganda Cranes interim head coach Morley Byekwaso did not apply for the permanent job, corroborated accounts from a source at FUFA and FUFA reveal.
FUFA opened up the applications for persons interested in coaching the Uganda Cranes on September 16th, two days after parting ways with Serbian tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.
The federation sacked the coach after failing to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in a group that had Algeria, Tanzania and Niger.

Of those, FUFA stated that only two were local coaches.
No Morley?
However, with the international break fast approaching, FUFA decided to appoint Morley Byekwaso as an interim to handle the two friendly matches against Mali and Zambia in the next seven days.

A trusted source from the federation confided to this writer that former Kitara FC and Vipers SC head coaches Sam Ssimbwa and Alex Isabirye did.
If FUFA’s word is to be trusted that only two local coaches applied, then that means Byekwaso did not apply.
“I cannot ascertain whether there were only two local coaches who applied but what I can confirm is that [Sam] Ssimbwa and Alex [Isabirye] submitted,” the source revealed after eavesdropping on a discussion between two top FUFA bosses.
