Midfielder Christian Eriksen and defender Victor Lindelof are set to be released as their contracts come to and end in June while the future of goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is uncertain as he could move on in search of regular playing time with an eye on the Turkey squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Left-backs Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw could also be moved on with the former on loan at Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, who have an option to buy him permanently, while the latter has been bedeviled by injuries and the club looks to have gotten fed up.
United are on course for their worst-ever Premier League finish this season with Amorim’s side currently in 13th place with both Champions League and Europe League football not assured which will see them take a massive financial hit, hence the need to trim the squad to cope with the lost revenue.
