From Marco Reus to Exequiel Palacios, gameweek 25 delivered greatly, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen securing the biggest result of the week.
Dortmund returned to the top of the table thanks to a six-star performance from their players, while Bayer Leverkusen continued their good form under Xabi Alonso as they claimed a major scalp against Bayern Munich.
With gameweek 25 done and dusted, here is our team of the week.
Goalkeeper: Manuel Riemann [VFL Bochum] vs RB Leipzig
VFL Bochum secured one of the upsets of the week as they beat top-four hopefuls RB Leipzig by the odd goal.
However, they have their goalkeeper Manuel Riemann to thank for delivering one of the best individual performances in the Bundesliga this season.
Riemann ensured Bochum went away with three points in the match after making a whopping nine saves in the match.
Centre-Back: Danilho Doekhi [Union Berlin] vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Union Berlin ended their run of four games without a win with a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday evening.
Dutch defender Danilho Doekhi was part of the three-man defence that ensured Urs Fischer’s men kept a clean sheet.
Doekhi was solid at the back for the Iron Ones, with four clearances, two interceptions and three blocked shots to his name.
Centre-Back: Erhan Mašović [VFL Bochum] vs RB Leipzig
While Riemann was Bochum’s hero, he was not the only one that impressed in defence. Erhan Masovic also played his part both in defence and attack.
The Serbian defender dealt with everything he faced, making three clearances, one interception and three articles.
Although Rieman shut out Leipzig many times, Masovic ensured the victory for Bochum after scoring the lone goal in the encounter.
Centre-Back: Matthias Ginter [Freiburg] vs Mainz
Freiburg dropped points in the top four race, but Matthias Ginter held his own at the back for the club.
The German star ensured Freiburg did not concede more than once, with eight clearances and one tackle to his name.
Defensive Midfielder: Joshua Kimmich [Bayern Munich] vs Bayer Leverkusen
Bayern Leverkusen were on the receiving of a disappointing defeat at Bayer Leverkusen, but Kimmich was one of the few players who impressed in the match.
The Germany international put Bayern ahead in the match and also completed 88% of his passes.
He was also solid defensively, making five interceptions and winning five tackles in addition to the six duels he won.
Right Midfielder: Exequiel Palacios [Bayer Leverkusen] vs Bayern Munich
Bayer Leverkusen secured their biggest result since Xabi Alonso took over after coming from behind to beat Bayern Munich, thanks to two penalties from Palacios.
The Argentine midfielder scored twice from the spot in the second half to give Alonso’s men a famous win.
But it was not just the goals that separated Palacios from the rest. His all-round performance was also good.
The Argentina international made 56 passes, including two key passes, while he also had an additional shot off target.
Left Midfielder: Raphaël Guerreiro [Borussia Dortmund] vs FC Cologne
If you have been following our team of the week, you will not be surprised to see Raphaël Guerreiro in our team of the week again.
Guerreiro was at his brilliant best again as Borussia Dortmund thrashed Cologne 6-1 to move top of the table.
The Portugal international opened the scoring for the Black and Yellow before setting up another two. Not forgetting the big chance he created and the three key passes he made.
Attacking midfielder: Marco Reus [Borussia Dortmund] vs FC Cologne
Maro Reus was at it again as he captained Dortmund to an emphatic win. When he is fit, Reus is one of the best players in the world.
He showed that with two well-taken goals in Dortmund’s 6-1 win over Cologne. If he stays fit, Dortmund could just pip Bayern to the title.
Attacking Midfielder: Andrej Kramarić [Hoffenheim] vs Hertha Berlin
For a very long time, Hoffenheim could not buy a win. However, they finally ended their run of games without a league win since last October with a 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin.
Croatia midfielder Andrej Kramarić played a key role in this victory with two goals. Kramaric scored two well-taken penalties but could have had a hat-trick.
The win was enough to take Hoffenheim out of the relegation zone finally.
Striker: Sebastien Haller [Borussia Dortmund] vs FC Cologne
Dortmund secured the biggest win of the week, so it’s only fair that their players are well-represented.
Haller continues to be an inspiration after beating cancer. The Ivory Coast star was back among the goals again after scoring twice in Dortmund’s 6-1 win over Cologne.
Haller scored Dortmund’s second before scoring his second in the 69th minute. It took a long time, but Haller is finally settling in at Dortmund.
Striker: Marvin Ducksch [Werder Bremen] vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Werder Bremen secured an impressive point in their Friday night clash at Borussia Monchengladbach, thanks to a brace from Marvin Ducksch.
