As URA, Arua Hill, Villa, Maroons, BUL, and Wakiso look forward to the start of the UPL, Vipers and KCCA will be looking forward to more.

The FUFA Super 8 tournament returns after an absence of four years and will take centre stage between August 4th and 18th, 2023.

It will be an all-Uganda Premier League competition, with the FUFA Big League top two teams from last season not participating this time.

And according to the FUFA Executive Committee member Rogers Byamukama, the tournament will help those involved prepare competitively for the 2023/2024 season.

"Each of the eight teams taking part in this year's Super 8 tournament will be guaranteed to play three games, including classification matches," Byamukama said before adding.

He added: "This serves as good preparation for teams before the start of the new season."

Holders and UPL champions Vipers SC were drawn and will visit BUL FC; the 2022/23 UPL runners-up KCCA FC will also be on the road to take on Wakiso Giants FC.

Third-placed SC Villa will host sixth-positioned Maroons FC, Arua Hill SC were fourth last season and will visit URA FC, who were fifth.

As URA, Arua Hill, Villa, Maroons, BUL, and Wakiso look forward to the start of the UPL, Vipers and KCCA will be looking forward to more.

The draws for the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League are in, and Vipers will be taking on Jwaneng Galaxy from Botswana.

Whilst KCCA will face the winner between Tunisian side Olympique de Béja and Abu Salim from Libya in the Confederation Cup after they were exempted from the first round of the preliminary round.

Both teams are already advanced in preparing for their compacted season start, and the Super 8 tourney will ignite the competitiveness.

Vipers defeated KCCA 2-1 in the final in 2019, and they are the only two teams that have won this competition before - the latter won the inaugural tournament in 2018.
