StarTimes Uganda Premier League winners Vipers Sports Club are contemplating on signing Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) striker Simon Tshisungu Kankonde.
A reliable source intimated to this website that the management have been discussing the possibility of bringing the Congolese forward to the Kitende fold ahead of the new season.
The gigantic forward signed a two-year contract at KCCA FC in July last year and therefore still has a year left at the club, it's not clear whether KCCA FC will keep him for next season.
While some believe it would be a risky venture, a top-club executive reportedly believes in the qualities of the striker.
Should the transfer materialise, Vipers would have pulled off a shocking move.
Kankonde had a debut season to forget scoring just four times at the Naguru-based club which climaxed with the eight-match ban for physically assaulting referee Mashood Ssali in his side's 1-0 defeat to Vipers SC at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
Vipers have so far released eight players; Disan Galiwango, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Ibrahim Orit, Bashir Asiku, Musa Ssali, Olivier Osomba, Garcia Mpongo and Serge Robert Mwenge.
A number of players including former player and free agent Taddeo Lwanga are linked with joining the club.
