Newcastle are reportedly looking around Premier League clubs to strengthen their squad.
Newcastle are reported to be interested in signing Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech.
The Moroccan has had a difficult period at Chelsea since signing from Ajax in the summer of 2021. However, his brilliant performance for Morocco in Qatar has seen his stock rise.
Newcastle want Hakim Ziyech
The Telegraph reports that Newcastle are interested in signing Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea.
The 29-year-old midfielder is of interest to the Magpies, who are looking to strengthen their squad.
Ziyech is reported not to be indispensable to Chelsea, who have recently strengthened their attack by signing Mykhailo Mudryk and David Datro Fofana.
Also, Chelsea are reported to have to let some players go to enable them register new players for the Champions League.
Ziyech has been in good form since returning from the World Cup. He has started more games for Chelsea after the tournament than he did before it.
However, the Tyneside club are reported not to have Ziyech as their priority, as they are looking to strengthen in central-midfield first.
Newcastle looking to strengthen in midfield
Newcastle are reported to prioritise signing a central midfielder this season.
Gallagher is said to be on Newcastle's sporting director Steve Nickson's list for this position.
However, Chelsea would be unwilling to let Gallagher go as they are currently facing an injury crisis.
The Telegraph also reports that Newcastle are evaluating signing Scott Mctominay from Manchester United, and the midfielder is said to be open to joining, as he has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford following the signing of Casemiro.
