Latest reports claim that Christian Atsu has been rescued.
Christian Atsu has been reportedly found alive. He is said to have been injured and taken to the hospital after being pulled from beneath the rubble.
This is per the latest reports on Tuesday morning, after Hatayspor's honorary president said Christian Atsu was yet to be found in an earlier report. The report of the president's statement was in contrast to even earlier reports from multiple sources claiming the Ghanaian had been rescued from the rubble he was said to be buried under following the earthquake that hit Turkey.
The 31-year-old Ghanaian forward plays for Hatayspor, a club in the Hatay region of Turkey severely affected by the said earthquake, and was reported to be trapped under debris.
Earlier reports
Multiple reports surfaced Monday evening claiming Christian Atsu had been rescued, including those that cited his teammates, management team, and club executives as sources.
However, Lutfu Savas, the mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality and also the honorary president of Hatayspor, put out a statement that flagged the reports as false.
"The search and rescue efforts for Atsu are unfortunately continuing," Savas revealed.
However, Atsu is now reported to have been found, according to new reports on Tuesday morning.
