Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Remo Stars, are reportedly edging closer to completing the signing of experienced defender Ifeanyi Anaemena.
The Ikenne-based club who started the 2023 NPFL with great form, conceded six goals in their last four matches prior to the league going on a mid-season break.
The drop in form have seen Remo Stars drop out of playoff qualification places to 5th in Group A.
Remo Stars looking to add Anaemena to defence
After a brief sojourn in Saudi Arabia, Anaemena, who has previously won two league titles with Enyimba, is reported to be nearing a comeback to the Nigerian top flight.

According to a report by ACL Sports, Remo Stars are keen to strengthen their defence following an injury setback, after centreback Segun Olalere suffered a knock.
“Ifeanyi Anaemena has been here for some days now,” a Remo Stars official revealed, as reported by ACL Sports.
“He arrived almost at the same time as Junior Lokosa and a deal is being worked upon. As things stand, he could be signed any moment from now as the only issue delaying the deal is the salary agreement.”
After a brief stint with Rivers United, Anaemena moved to Al Nahda in 2021.

They are nine adrift Group A leaders Bendel Insurance and one, off Super 6 qualification places.
Upon return to the league, the Sky Blue Stars will play Nasarawa United at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne in a game week 10 fixture.
