K’Ogalo are now free to complete their transfer business having cleared pending dues owed to former players.

Gor Mahia will finally be allowed to register their new signings after clearing with their former players who had seen them handed a transfer ban.

Burundi international Jules Ulimwengu, who K’Ogalo owed by Ksh1.1 million, was the one holding them back but the club is now set to complete their new signings after clearing his dues.

“We have made all the payments and we are awaiting the communication from FIFA. So far, we have not received it but we are confident that it will come soon,” said Gor Mahia CEO Raymond Oruo.

While Gor are yet to officially receive the greenlight, it is believed that FIFA has already made the communication to Football Kenya Federation who are set to inform K’Ogalo in due course.

Gor received a blow last month when they were kicked out of the CAF Champions League due to delayed payment of money owed to ex-players Ulimwengu, Sando Yangayay, and Adama Keita and while they paid up, it was way past the deadline, seeing them miss out on continental football.

Johnathan McKinstry’s side have been in pre-season camp in Thika where their new signings Kevin Omondi, Rooney Onyango, Alvin Ochieng, Kennedy Onyango, Kevin Juma, and Lawrence Juma have been training with the rest while awaiting clearance so that they can be registered.

K’Ogalo are reinforcing their squad in preparation for their title defence with their first match slated against Sofapaka on Saturday, August 26.

That will come after the 20-time Kenyan champions take on FKF Cup winners Kakamega Homeboyz in the FKF Charity Shield at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

Gor had also been handed a transfer ban in 2021 for fielding newly-signed players that included Yangayay, Dennis Ng’ang’a, and Peter Lwasa in a cup game against Tusker FC yet they had not cleared money owned to former players Shafiq Batambuze and Dickson Ambundo as well as ex-coach Steve Polack.
