The battle between the second and third-placed teams in LaLiga ended in a draw. A positive result for league leaders Barcelona.
Neither team could break the deadlock as Real Madrid and Real Sociedad played to a tightly contested 0-0 draw.
In an attempt to close the gap on rival Barcelona, Real Madrid hosted the team directly below them in the league table at the Santiago Bernabeu. Neither team picked up all three points, keeping the Blaugrana five points clear at the top of the league.
An immovable object faced off against an unstoppable force in this tie, as Real Sociedad, the second-best defence in the league in terms of clean sheets, matched up against Real Madrid, the top-scoring team in the league.
Both teams had chances to score, with Alexander Sorloth missing the first proper chance of the game, but Real Madrid were more wasteful on the night, unable to beat Alex Remiro in goal for Real Sociedad.
An entertaining draw
As expected of a game between teams that high on the league table, the game was thoroughly entertaining, with both teams threatening to go ahead.
Alexander Sorloth mistimed his interception and, with the goal in front of him, failed to make contact with the ball, saving Madrid's blushes.
Vinicius Jr and Asier Illaramendi fired wide of the target for either side. It would not be the Brazilians' only poor miss of the night.
Alex Remiro was inspired on the night, making seven saves, including from strikes by Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema, and Vinicius.
Vinicius thought he scored when he was put through on goal, but the brilliant Remiro was there to save his team, as usual.
The draw keeps Real Madrid 5 points adrift from Barcelona at the top of the table, while La Reale stay 3rd, eight points behind
