The Norwegian could leave Manchester City in the summer, just a season after signing for the club.
Real Madrid could make a sensational swoop for Norwegian striker Erling Haaland this summer just a year after he signed for Manchester City.
Haaland joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund last summer for just £51million. The 22-year-old was one of the big summer arrivals in the Premier League and has proven to be a hit.
Haaland could leave City despite sensational start
Haaland has scored 25 goals in 22 league games this season, while he also has five in four Champions League matches.
However, the former RB Salzburg striker could leave City for Madrid just a year after arriving at the club.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Madrid are monitoring Haaland’s situation in the wake of the financial doping allegations levelled against City.
City have been charged by the Premier League with over 100 cases of financial breaches. The Premier League champions currently face hefty punishments if found guilty of the charges.
Real Madrid to take advantage of City's situation
As a result, the current status of the club has been placed in doubt, leading to speculations over the futures of their players.
With the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future, Madrid are ready to swoop in for Haaland this summer. Los Blancos were among the clubs interested in the Norway international last summer but missed out on his services.
However, the European champions believe they can get their man this time, although they may have to pay a fee in the region of £ 128 million for his services.
Los Blancos also sees Haaland as the perfect replacement for Karim Benzema, who is in the twilight of his career and has been hampered by injuries this season.
Haaland’s current contract at Man City expires in 2027.
