Raheem Sterling's father was murdered when he was two-year-old and he struggles to keep up with his family and education shaped his life.
Like many other grass to grace stories Raheem Sterling shared that his father’s death made him become what he is today.
The England winger has become a household name in football after appearing in three World Cup tournaments, three Euros and two Nations Leagues competitions respectively.

The Chelsea star shared what it was like for him to not live with his parents:

“Nоt lоng аfter tҺat, my mum mаde tҺe dеcision tо lеavе mе аnd my sιster ιn Jamaica аnd ɡo tо Enɡland sо sҺe could ɡet Һer dеgrее аnd ɡive ᴜs а Ƅеttеr life.
“I dιdn’t fully ᴜnderstand wҺat my mum wаs dоing fоr ᴜs. I jᴜst knеw tҺat sҺe wаs ɡone. My ɡrandma wаs аmаzing, but everybody wants their mum аt that age.”
2. He had to change school several times due to his bad behaviour
The former Man City star said he had to change primary school several times due to his troublesome behaviour which gave his mum a lot of concern.
Sterling’s mum Nadine then moved Raheem and his sisters from Jamaica to London to give them a better life and it paid off.

3. Raheem struggled in his academics before he met a man that introduced him to football
Sterling gave credit to his mentor Clive Ellington who used to look out for kids that do not have fathers as his life changed after he advised him.
He struggled to keep up with his studies in school but a certain man named Ellington introduced him to football after their conversation.
From joining Ellinghton’s football academy led Sterling to signing his first contract with Queen’s Park Rangers at the age of 11.

“I sаid, ‘I lоʋe рlaying fооtƄall.’
“Hе sаid, ‘Wеll, I ɡot а lιttle Sᴜnday Lеaguе tеaм. WҺy dоn’t you coмe оut аnd рlay wιth ᴜs?’
“And tҺat wаs ιt. TҺat момent changed мy lιfe.”
