Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi returned to light training at the weekend to hand Paris Saint-Germain a huge boost as they prepare for their Champions League last-16 clash with Bayern Munich.
A thigh injury Kylian Mbappe picked up earlier this month had initially been listed as a reason for his possible absence. His short period out of the side has coincided with PSG's recent poor form, as the French side lost consecutive games.
A number of other players, including Messi and Marco Verratti are struggling with niggles and manager Christophe Galtier admitted he was worried by the prospect of facing Bayern, in a fixture that could prove to be season-defining.
The good news for Galtier is that Mbappe is back in light training. According to L'Equipe, he was running out on grass on Sunday and even took part in a section of team training, putting him significantly ahead of schedule.
Messi and Verratti are reported to have been involved in training as well, giving all three players the possibility of featuring against Bayern Munich.
Big picture for PSG
The French champions have struggled in recent weeks. some of it is down to injuries and inconsistent performances. There have even been reports that Galtier's future depends on how his team performs against Bayern.
Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes will both be back in contention and Galtier will hope his team can put recent disappointing performances behind them.
