Christophe Galtier was visibly irate with Nice fans after his former club's hostile reception
Paris Saint-Germain head coach Christophe Galtier tore into Nice fans during his post-match press conference after he was welcomed back to his former club with a tasteless banner, to which he took opposition.
Galtier attacked by Nice fans during return to former club
PSG claimed a routine 2-0 win over Nice at the Allianz Riviera in Ligue 1, but the match was overshadowed by the tensions between the home side’s ultras and the visiting side’s manager after Galtier earned their ire during his time with Les Aiglons.
Galtier coached Nice in the 2021/22 season, helping them to fifth place in the league, qualifying Les Aiglons for the UEFA Europa Conference League, and also reaching the final of the Coupe de France in his only season with the club, but despite his success, his tenure suffered some friction with the fans notably after he asked centre-back Jean Clair Todibo, who is a Muslim, not to fast during the holy month of Ramadan last year.

Galtier was greeted on his return to his old stomping ground with a banner insulting his mother, and as expected took exception to the gesture.
Galtier furious with Nice reception
After the game, while exchanging pleasantries with former players, Galtier reportedly approached Todibo to discuss the banner saying, “JC! Did you see the banner? Imagine if they did that to you.”
He also applauded the Nice fans in the section where the banner was raised before slamming them in his post-match press conference.

Galtier was heavily critical of the banner from the Nice fans after the game, and explained the reasons for his reaction towards the fans, saying, “Why did I react like that? Did you see [the banner]?! Did you read it?! Did you hear?! My mother is 83 years old, she’s recovering from cancer. Full stop.”
He also accused the Nice ultras of being ungrateful after he helped the team qualify for European competition last season.
“The work I did last season is the reason those people can watch European matches.” Galtier said, before adding, “whatever people think, it’s the work we did last season, along with what Didier [Digard] has done, which means there are still European matches in Nice.”
