CAF has finally confirmed new dates for its premier tournaments the AFCON and WAFCON with Nigeria's Super Eagles and Super Falcons on alert.
The Super Eagles and Super Falcons faithful are in for a treat as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled new dates for the eagerly anticipated CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the CAF TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournaments.
The Eagles and Falcons, the pride of Nigerian football, will be gunning for glory on the continental stage as the AFCON and WAFCON competitions are set to take place in Morocco.

CAF fixes dates for WAFCON and AFCON
The CAF TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 will kick off on Sunday, 21 December 2025, with the final scheduled for Sunday, 18 January 2026.
This prestigious tournament is expected to showcase the best of African football and the Super Eagles, led by their talismanic captain Ahmed Musa will be determined to reclaim the coveted trophy.
In a move that has delighted Nigerian football enthusiasts, the CAF TotalEnergies WAFCON 2024 will also be held in North Africa.
The opening match is slated for Saturday, 5 July 2025, with the final on Saturday, 26 July 2025.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will be hoping to reclaim the glory the lost to reigning WAFCON champions South Africa in a bid to cement their undisputed status as queens of African women's football.
CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, expressed his confidence in the success of both tournaments, stating;
"I am confident that the CAF TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 will be extremely successful and will be the best AFCON in the history of this competition.”
“I am also impressed by the enormous growth of Women's Football in Africa and I am expecting the CAF TotalEnergies WAFCON Morocco 2024 to be immensely successful,” he added.
The announcement of the dates for these prestigious tournaments brings to an end the confusion about doubts if they will be held and has reignited a sense of excitement and anticipation among Nigerian football fans, who are keenly awaiting the chance to see their beloved national teams compete for continental glory.
