Akpom to return to the Premier League
Ajax made a move for the forward after scoring 29 league goals for Boro in the Championship to fire the club to the Playoffs.
However, the 28-year-old has found regular minutes hard to come by in Amsterdam following his high-profile move.
Despite scoring five goals, Akpom has only managed just five starts in 20 matches across competitions for his Dutch club in the current season.
With game time hard to come by, the former Gunner could be set for a lifeline following the interest of Everton and Luton per Team Talk.
The Toffees and Luton are reportedly exploring the possibility of a loan move for the talented versatile forward who is still eligible to play for Nigeria Super Eagles.
Both clubs are currently languishing in relegation waters and are looking to add more firepower to their respective teams having struggled to score goals.
