Onana and his many suitors
The Belgium international was one of the top-performing defensive midfielders in the Premier League last season, contributing immensely to Everton’s fight against the drop despite a points deduction.
This has earned the 22-year-old suitors from the Premier League and across Europe. Manchester United are one of the top teams keeping an eye on him as they prepare for Casemiro’s possible exit to the Saudi Pro League.
His name has also been repeatedly linked with Barcelona, as the Blaugrana are said to fancy his profile; however, their financial situation makes a move unlikely.
Ndidi seen as ideal replacement
According to Football Insider, the Toffees are prepared to sell Onana this summer for a sizable fee and plan to replace him with Wilfred Ndidi, who is available on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old former Genk midfielder was an integral part of Enzo Maresca's team that helped restore Leicester City’s Premier League status, but his contract is set to expire in the coming days and he has rejected an offer for a renewal.
Ndidi is a Premier League-experienced player in the position and has once led the league in specific defensive stats for multiple seasons. Everton will, however, contend with other suitors for his signature, one of which is Jose Mourinho’s new club, Fenerbahce.
