The AFC Leopards player has expressed his excitement at completing the challenging journey after graduating from Zetech University on Friday

AFC Leopards forward Cliffton Miheso has added another feather to his cap after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Zetech University on Friday.

Miheso was among the graduands to were awarded various honours in Friday’s ceremony, including former Kisumu All Stars payer Samuel Onyango, who graduated with Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies.

The player thanked the Kenya Footballers’ Welfare Association (KEFWA) for their support during the challenging journey that saw him balance between books and football.

“Grateful for the incredible journey. Today, I proudly hold a degree. Huge thanks to Kenya Footballers’ Welfare for their unwavering support in making education a reality for athletes. It's not just about the game; it's about empowering dreams beyond the pitch,” Miheso said via a social media post.

KEFWA president James Situma lauded the two players for accomplishing the mission while urging them to use the knowledge gained to advance the interests of other players.

“I am so happy to see our members scale to another level. Today Clifton Miheso, Bachelor's in International Relations and Diplomacy, and Samuel Onyango, Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies were among the Zetech University graduands marking the 25th year since the inception of the institution,” said Situma.

“The AFC Leopards SC dinamo and former Kisumu All Stars loyalty were so excited and happy about this massive achievement. They are true ambassadors of KEFWA and indeed they will play a vital role in the growth of the orginisation and more so to other players. Career balancing is key to every individual irrespective of the profession.”

It is a great step for Miheso and Onyango who represent a small fraction of footballers who have graduated with degrees in various fields.

Players have been urged in the past to embrace education even during their active playing days so that they have something to fall back on when they stop playing.

Leopards fans will be hoping that Miheso will now be extra motivated to help them scale up the league table after their poor start to the season with a clash against Posta Rangers scheduled on Saturday afternoon.
