Kamau has been dubbed the “Kenyan Pep Guardiola” for implementing a swashbuckling style of play that is earning them plaudits.

Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau has revealed there are numerous factors that have led to taking a surprise lead at the top of the FKFPL table, admitting that his team is “not there yet” in terms of becoming an unstoppable force.

The Mailmen top the table after six league games on 16 points, winning five games on the bounce, scoring 10 goals, and conceding just once.

However, Kamau, who has been dubbed the “Kenyan Pep Guardiola” for implementing a swashbuckling style of play that is earning them plaudits believes that there is still room to improve.

“About sustaining our performances, there are so many factors. It is still very early in the season but one thing I know is that my team is not yet there,” Kamau said.

“There is something I think we have not gotten right cause, in terms of possession, I would like to see a team that can keep possession for three minutes without giving the ball away.

“We are giving possession away in key areas so it is a process. We are going to keep working on it and in the long run, I think we will have something to cheer (about)," he explained.

Posta have kept five clean sheets so far this season, and Kamau has revealed that having the ball a lot leads to teams barely getting a sniff, emphasising a need to defend by possessing the ball.

He has also sung praises of his keeper John Njau for “rescuing them” in key moments and called for every stakeholder to stick together if they are to achieve their goals.

“The clean sheets are a result of believing in defending when we have the ball because when you deny the opponents the ball, they cannot score but again also, it comes down to proper defensive organisation.

“Our keeper in several moments has come to our rescue and I think everyone is playing their part but the most important thing is that it is a collective responsibility.

“If we play our part (as technical staff) and the players play their part, as well as the management, we will be at a good place," he added.
