The former Harambee Stars assistant coach started laying foundations to change the style of play last season.

Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau insists that Kenyan clubs do not give their coaches time to come up with sides that can dominate as they ran out 2-0 winners over Nzoia Sugar FC to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Kamau’s Rangers have been a joy to watch this season. Players have executed his instructions to the letter and have played free-flowing football which has led to impressive performances and results, keeping them top on 16 points after six matches.

The former Harambee Stars assistant coach started laying the foundations to change the style of play last season, and the dividends of it are starting to be witnessed this season.

Kamau bemoaned a “lack of patience” in coaches in Kenyan football by management, which leaves sides lacking a lot in sustainability.

“I am happy to hear you repeating what I said last season, “ Kamau said. “At times, what we lack in Kenyan football is patience,” he added.

“For you to come up with a good team, it is a process and I think we do not give our coaches enough time to build from what he finds.”

Kamau has hailed Posta Rangers management for “staying patient” with him, as his team is now playing in a way that pleases him.

“Rangers were patient with me and I think they can now see the dividends ‘cause it is very simple. We are dominating in terms of building out from the back and I think I am loving what I am seeing because my players are really enjoying it and they are expressing themselves.”

Rangers have a near-perfect record in the league this season, considering they have dropped just two points out of a possible 18, with their solitary draw coming in their 0-0 stalemate against Bidco United in their first league match of the season.

They have since delivered victories against Police, Sofapaka, Murang’a Seal, Kariobangi Sharks and Nzoia Sugar respectively.
