Posta Rangers coach John Kamau has expressed his delight in the manner his side overcame Nzoia Sugar's challenge to record another win and stay top of the FKFPL table

Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau has praised his charges for staying ‘patient’ as they delivered a fifth straight league win after overcoming a spirited but inexperienced Nzoia Sugar on Friday afternoon.

Goals by captain Kennedy Ochino and Brian Otieno were enough to take Rangers up to 16 points and on top of the table, which is sure earning them plaudits from fans and neutrals alike.

Speaking after the game, Kamau admitted that Nzoia Sugar’s strategy in the first half made it difficult for them to break through, but they eventually cracked under pressure as Rangers forced them into conceding mistakes.

“It has been a game of two halves because in the first half, the opponent defended very well in their own half, very compact and waiting for transition moments,” Kamau said.

“I think we had to change something or two and I think in the second half, it is difficult for a team to defend 90 minutes so we managed the game well in that half.

“There were spaces the opposition created. We kept on knocking and I think they started cracking and opening their spaces up for us to play.

“Our patience was key in this game ‘cause it is a game where we expected to win in the first half but again our opponents came up with a different strategy. I am very happy with the mental fortitude of this team.”

Posta Rangers are starting to reap the rewards of placing their unwavering faith in Kamau by giving him time to execute his methods to foster sustainable performances and thus good results.

They have a near-perfect record in the league this season, considering they have dropped just two points out of a possible 18, with their solitary draw coming in their 0-0 draw against Bidco United in their first league match of the season.

They have since delivered victories against Police, Sofapaka, Murang’a Seal, Kariobangi Sharks and Nzoia Sugar recently.
