10-man Police FC withstood an onslaught from Sofapaka at the Dandora stadium on Wednesday to claim a point in a dramatic rescheduled fixture.

Police FC head coach Anthony Kimani praised his team’s resilience after they fought to a 1-1 draw against Sofapaka in a dramatic FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) rescheduled match at Dandora Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite going down to ten men for the majority of the second half, Police FC held their ground and nearly clinched a last-minute victory.

The game began on a challenging note for Police FC as they fell behind early in the first half.

Sofapaka’s Joseph Kuloba struck in the 8th minute, putting Police FC in the position of chasing the game.

Despite multiple attempts, Police FC couldn’t break Sofapaka’s defense in the first half and went into the break trailing 1-0.

In the second half, Police FC intensified their efforts, and their persistence paid off.

David Okoth leveled the score in the 51st minute to bring the law enforcers back into the game .

However, the momentum took another turn when Police FC’s Abud Omar received a red card for violent conduct in the 62nd minute, leaving his side to face the final stretch of the game with only ten players.

Despite being a man down, Police FC defended strongly, enduring waves of attacks from Sofapaka.

In stoppage time, Sofapaka came close to securing a win, but their potential match-winning goal was ruled offside.

Police FC, meanwhile, almost pulled off a surprise counter-attack goal in the dying moments, but the match ended in a draw.

Reflecting on the game, Coach Kimani acknowledged Sofapaka's recent momentum after their win against Kakamega Homeboyz and noted the tough challenge his team faced.

“We expected a very tough game against a good Sofapaka team. On our side, we hadn’t played in a while, but taking all things into account with the red card, I think the boys did very well to come away with a point,” said Kimani.

When asked about the red card and officiating, Kimani refrained from direct comments on the referees.

“I don’t usually like to speak on referees' decisions. I usually leave that to their superiors who look at the job they do on the pitch. My job is to prepare the boys and assess what we need to work on for the next fixture,” he added.

The hard-fought draw means Police FC remain unbeaten this season, currently positioned 13th on the league table with six points from four matches.
