Odemba has vehelmently warned her charges against resting on their laurels after dominating the Women's FKFPL title and awards on their debut season.

Kenya Police Bullets head coach Beldine Odemba has challenged her charges not to rest on their laurels after they dominated the women’s football awards at the FKF Gala that took place at the Safari Park Hotel on Friday night.

Odemba guided Police to a league title win on their debut season unbeaten, winning 15 and drawing the other four of their matches, which won her the WFKFPL Coach of the Year award.

They topped the women’s league on 49 points, five above former champions Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets, who placed second and third respectively.

Lydia ‘Ozil’ Akoth walked away with the player of the year award, underpinning her dominating displays throughout the year.

With the side now preparing for the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal qualifiers, Odemba has warned her charges against complacency, describing the gala as an eye opener for other teams  and players to want to work hard in order to also get feted at the end of the season.

“Roll your sleeves and work more. The season is over and the challenge now is to remain at the top and work more,” Odemba told the media after receiving her award.

“It is a big challenge for us as Kenya Police Bullets and a big challenge for Ozil because of the competition. The Gala is an eye opener for the players because they know what is worth competing for.”

“It is not going to be an easy season. Every other player will want this award like Ozil got, and so will many coaches, so the challenge is on us to work very hard in order to achieve our targets.”

Police are already in the process of strengthening their squad in order to maintain their dominating displays from last season.

Bullets have so far landed five new faces including striker Emily Moranga and defender Norah Ann both from Vihiga Queens, Kenya Under20 skipper Jane Hato from Mathare United Women, midfielder Lorna Nyabuto from FK Apolonia and foward Bertha Omita from Gokulam Kerala, India.
