The case centres on allegations of threats, extortion, and even kidnapping of the ex-Manchester United and Juventus midfielder, and with the trial entering a crucial phase, the prosecution has outlined its recommendations for punishments, ranging from fines and suspended sentences to significant jail time.
Mathias Pogba in hot water over extortion and kidnapping
Among the defendants, Mathias Pogba faces the lightest sentence proposed by the prosecution. According to reports from L'Equipe, prosecutors have requested a three-year sentence, two of which would be suspended, along with a €10,000 fine.
This means Mathias could avoid prison altogether by serving his sentence under house arrest or with an electronic bracelet.
The other defendants, however, face harsher penalties. Boubacar C. could receive a five-year sentence, two of which are suspended, alongside a €20,000 fine and a ten-year ban on carrying a weapon.
Similarly, Machikour K. and Adama C. face comparable sentences, with varying levels of suspension and fines.
Harshest punishment reserved for another defendant
The most severe demand is directed at Roushdane K., who the prosecution believes played a central role in the alleged offences.
He faces a potential eight-year prison term, a €20,000 fine, and a decade-long weapon ban for his involvement in the alleged scheme.
The defence teams are actively pushing back against these recommendations, with Mathias Pogba’s lawyer calling for his full acquittal.
As the trial progresses, the defence is expected to present further arguments in the coming days, leaving the final judgement to the court.
