Wednesday's midweek action saw the defending champion, Gor Mahia drop points for the first time this season against a stubborn KCB side which has not impressed the K'Ogalo coach.

Gor Mahia assistant coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno has slammed KCB FC for their 'defensive' approach in Wednesday's FKF Premier League clash at the Dandora Stadium.

The defending champions dropped points for the first time this season in a barren draw against a stubborn KCB side.

It didn't seem to click for K'Ogalo who huffed and puffed but the Bankers did not budge, frustrating the side.

Otieno has attributed the lack of goals in the match to KCB's defensive approach.

"One team was playing to win and another was playing to not get beaten so sometimes when you are playing in such a small field and one team is out looking to just not concede then it becomes very hard to play," expressed Otieno.

"I can't think any situation where I saw any of their defender get anywhere near the half-way line and it becomes very difficult to play against a team that sets up like that," he added.

The tactician assured that the defending champions would have given a good account of themselves had the circumstances with the pitch been different.

"I'm confident that if we had a big and playable pitch, then we would have been able to maneuver around because most of our players are very technical and the pitch today was not favorable for them," he added.

K'Ogalo struggled to string passes together with their usual neat give-and-go style of play disrupted.

Otieno, however, expressed contentment with their goal return despite failing to find the back the net on Wednesday.

"If you look at our games before this, we scored seven goals in two games. With this match it is now seven goals in three games and I think that's very good return. We are also yet to concede a goal and I think that's a big positive."

The 21-time champions started the season with a 4-0 thumping of Mathare United before hammering Posta Rangers 3-0 last weekend at the Machakos stadium.
