Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will return to the Gabon squad for their match against Kenya and Harambee Stars defence must devise a strategy to stop him after struggling against Gambia.
Harambee Stars defence has its work cut out on Sunday when they take on Gabon as they will be coming up against one of the finest strikers in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang is set to return to the starting XI after sitting out The Panther’s 3-0 victory over Seychelles on Thursday, owing to a two-game suspension, and his availability is a big boost to coach Thierry Mouyouma but a nightmare for Kenya’s Benni McCarthy.
Aubameyang rescinded his decision to retire from international football in May 2022 and since then, he has played seven games for Gabon and scored three goals.

Aubameyang, who now plays for Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah, may not be as revered as he was when he played for Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Barcelona, but 13 goals from 25 games for his club suggests he knows how to find the back of the net.
That will therefore make him a marked man against Kenya but how coach McCarthy plans to stop him is what is the big question.

Kenya v Gabon: 5 Panthers players who could wreak havoc against the Harambee Stars
Gabon’s key players, led by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, will be crucial as they take on Harambee Stars in a highly anticipated World Cup qualifier.
The Harambee Stars defence did not cover itself in glory against The Gambia on Thursday with a new central defence partnership of Brian Mandela and Daniel Anyembe struggling with the pace and cleverness of Yankuba Minteh and Musa Barrow.
Mandela’s lack of pace was brutally exposed, Anyembe struggled in one-on-one situations while at full-back, Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma also had a tough time.
Coming into the match against Gabon, McCarthy will need to make changes but his options are limited as only Johnstone Omurwa offers much experience at centre back with KCB’s 19-year-old Manzur Okwaro the other alternative.

Tickets sold out for Harambee Stars vs Gabon match
All tickets sold out for Kenya vs Gabon World Cup qualifier as fans gear up for a historic clash at Nyayo.
Omurwa is likely to start but there is debate over who will be dropped between Mandela and Anyembe. Whatever option the coach goes for, he will need to come up the strategy to stop Aubameyang, who is blessed with pace to get in behind, while his movement in the box is also superb.
Gabon’s all-time top scorer will have to be watched throughout but he is not the only threat as Denis Bouanga, who scored on Thursday, is also a dangerman.
