Despite leaving the Uganda Premier League about two seasons ago, former SC Villa head coach Petros Koukouras has called out the Ugandan match officials, terming them a 'corrupt' lot.
The Greek spent one season (2021/22) with the Uganda Premier League record holders, guiding them to a lowly 12th finish, two places above relegation as they collected just 33 points.

During his tenure in Uganda, Koukouras constantly clashed with referees on match days and openly criticized their officiating several times.

Upon being named Uganda Cranes interim head coach, Morley Byekwaso Ochama has named his maiden team set for the international friendly against Mali.

Meanwhile Daka, who previously played against Uganda in 2014 as an U-17 player, has spent the past two seasons at Leicester.
"Because people were tired of the corruption and the incompetent referees," Koukouras added in an assessment of the Ugandan referees.
He further advised the Rwandans to jealously protect their decently packaged game that is buoyed by their "nice facilities."
