Manchester City are in competitive race for a Champions League place but manager Pep Guardiola remains indifferent to qualification.

As Manchester City navigate the final stretch of a turbulent Premier League season, manager Pep Guardiola has offered a typically grounded take on the possibility of missing out on Champions League qualification.

With just a handful of games remaining, City find themselves in contention for a spot in next season's Champions League, but Guardiola is far from consumed by the pressure.

In an interview with Sky Sports the Spaniard opened up on why he is unbothered by potentially missing out on Europe's premier competition despite assuring that his side were "going for it".

“We’re going to go for it,” said Guardiola, whose side are the only club to have qualified for the Champions League in every season over the past 15 years.

“It’s in our hands. We have eight games, so we’re going to give everything.”

However, while Guardiola remains committed to the cause, he also insists that missing out wouldn’t be catastrophic.

“How many important clubs in the last three, four or five years have not been playing in the Champions League and still they are there? The club will find a solution,” he said.

City’s slight dip in form this season has raised eyebrows, especially given the heights they reached in the previous campaign.

Guardiola acknowledged the drop-off, stating, “I thought, ‘okay, we’re going to drop’. But in terms of results, in terms of performance, we dropped unexpectedly.”

Still, the City boss remains forward-looking and optimistic ahead of next season.

“Of course, we want to be there (in the Champions League). But just in case it’s not going to happen, what’s next? We move on. Hopefully, next season will not happen like this season. Of course, we have to change things, definitely. But next season will be better," he noted.

As City push for a strong finish, their manager’s perspective may serve as the calm amid a stormy campaign.
