Payne sisters set for Paris 2024
Nigeria are making a return to the Olympics for the first time in 16 years, but unfortunately find themselves in a daunting Group C alongside reigning World Champions Spain, Brazil, and Japan.
The Super Falcons, who are playing at the global event for the first time since 2008, face an uphill battle to make it out of the group stage and achieve their first-ever Olympic gold medal.
However, the Payne sisters appear determined to defy the odds and do their nation proud.
Nicole, who will don the famous number 4 shirt, declared on her social media: "Ready for the games," accompanied by photos of the siblings sporting the Super Falcons' Nike kits.
Meanwhile, her sister Toni, who will wear the number 7 jersey, will be hoping to use her experience from the recent World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where the Super Falcons were eliminated in the Round of 16 by England.
The sibling duo have also been busy making moves in the transfer market, with defender Nicole joining French giants Paris Saint-Germain on a deal until 2026,
while midfielder Toni has made the switch to Everton in the English Women's Super League.
The Payne sisters will be hoping to etch their names in Nigerian football history by helping the Super Falcons achieve a maiden Olympic gold medal in Paris 2024.
Nigeria’s Falcons will begin that golden quest on Thursday when they take to the pitch against Brazil at the Bordeaux Stadium.
That explosive clash between the two heavyweights is slated for 6 pm Nigerian time and Pulse Sports Nigeria will bring you all the pre and post-match reactions as the Falcons look to make Nigerians proud again.
