The Nigerian striker has been a long-term target for the Blues, and Mikel believes his desire to join the club could make the move happen with ease.

Mikel confirms Osimhen wants Chelsea move

Chelsea's interest in Victor Osimhen is no secret. The club previously pursued the Napoli forward last summer but failed to finalise a deal before the transfer window closed.

Now, as the Blues prepare for another attempt, John Obi Mikel has reassured fans that negotiations should be far less complicated this time around.

Speaking recently, the former Super Eagles captain said, "I know exactly where we stopped. If we have to pick it up again in the summer, it’s just pretty easy to get it done because the player really wants to come to the football club.”

The former Chelsea star, who remains closely connected to Nigerian football, also believes Osimhen is one of the two top strikers Chelsea should target, alongside Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Chelsea’s striker problem and Osimhen’s perfect fit

Given Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal, Osimhen’s arrival could be a game-changer for a side that wasted far too many chances last season.

Since Didier Drogba’s departure, Chelsea has had a long history of failed strikers—from Alvaro Morata to Romelu Lukaku and even the underwhelming Timo Werner.

Last season, under Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues created plenty of attacking opportunities but lacked a clinical finisher, despite Nicolas Jackson’s efforts.

Despite scoring 14 goals in 31 starts, the Senegalese missed 24 big chances, one of the highest in the league. Chelsea fans had expected the club to bring in a world-class No. 9 before the season started, but while they tried to sign Osimhen, they couldn’t seal the deal before deadline day.

However, Chelsea boss Todd Boehly appears open to signing a new striker, and Osimhen, who is not only prolific but also a leader on the pitch, fits that role perfectly.
