Mamelodi Sundowns will battle for the CAF Champions League title against North African giants.

Mamelodi Sundowns will have to battle against the powerful North African giants in the semifinals of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.

The South Africans went through after muscling out Algerian side CR Belouizdad over two legs.

Sundowns had won the first leg 4-1 in Algiers but the Algerians had threatened in the second leg with Sofiane Bouchar scoring early in the 24th minute but the hosts woke up in time.

Themba Zwane and Tapelo Morena scored at the death of the first half and the beginning of the second as the Brazilians won 6-2 on aggregate.

In Tunisia, Esperance survived a late comeback to hold Algeria’s JS Kabylie 1-1 to go through 2-1 over two legs.

Record champions Al Ahly held to a barren draw to progress thanks to their 2-0 first-leg victory over Moroccan giant Raja Casablanca.

The three join defending champions Wydad Casablanca who eliminated Tanzania’s Simba 4-3 on penalty shootouts following a 1-0 win for both sides at their homes.
