The Super Eagles striker speaks on a possible transfer and his situation in the transfer window.
Paul Onuachu spoke in an interview about his transfer situation, with the big striker delivering an important update on his future.
The 28-year-old has been one of the most dominant goal scorers in the Belgian Pro League, leading to many transfer speculations; however, a move away from the Cegeka Arena has never materialised for the Nigerian.
Onuachu transfer verdict
Onuachu has once again been linked with a move away from Genk this window, with Frankfurt and Southampton reported as interested parties.
In a previous interview, the Nigeria international who won the Belgian Golden Shoe stated that he believed his performances for Genk should have earned him a career-progressing move.
However, with the transfer window coming to an end and Genk holding a healthy lead at the top of the Belgian Pro League, the tone of the Nigerian is slightly different, showing a willingness to continue at Genk, at least till the end of the season.
Onuachu revealed in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg that he would like to be able to say goodbye to Genk with a title, suggesting he had ruled out a move this January with his eyes set on a move in the summer.
"The truth? Well, anything can happen in a transfer period,” Onuachu said in the interview, per voetbalnieuws.
"But I haven't heard from that [any] team yet, and neither has my manager [agent].
“For now, I'm only focused on Genk, and hope to be able to say goodbye with a title here."
Onuachu with Genk
Onuachu is on his way to a second league title with Genk after helping them claim the title for the 2020/ 21 season with his 33 goals in 38 games.
The Belgian has scored an impressive 85 goals in 134 games for Genk, and his 16 in 19 games this season have helped Genk open a six-point lead on the chasing pack.
The former Midtjylland striker is determined to land the Belgian Pro League title this season before a possible transfer away from Genk.
