Former Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda has backed Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga to continue his hot scoring streak against Manchester United shot stopper Andre Onana when Kenya takes on Cameroon in crucial AFCON qualifier.

Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga has been in top form in front of goal, scoring his fifth goal in four matches during Al Duhail’s 2-1 loss to Al Shahania on Friday, September 27.

Olunga who returned to action last week after an injury had kept him out of international duty early this month has been dangerous in front of goal.

Former Gor Mahia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Omondi Aduda has backed the Harambee Stars captain to continues his hot streak and punish Manchester United Goalkeeper Onana and Cameroon.

According to Aduda, the return to fitness of Olunga will be a huge boost for the East African nation and coach Engin Firat.

“With Olunga in the starting XI, Cameroon goalkeeper Andre (Onana) will feel the heat. Olunga is a very powerful player, you saw how the team struggled minus him when they played Zimbabwe and Namibia,” Aduda told Flashscore.

“Without Olunga, we already knew the results in the opening matches. Though it was an opportunity for others to show what they could offer without Olunga, you could still feel his absence, you could see the body language of the players before the two games."

Olunga missed both of Harambee Stars opening matches against Zimbabwe and Namibia.

In his absence Kenya went into the Zimbabwe match without an outright striker finishing the match with a 0-0 draw before winning 2-1 against Namibia with a two-striker partnership of John Avire and Jonah Ayunga.

Kenya top group J after a barren draw against Zimbabwe before winning 2-1 against Namibia.

Harambee Stars face the Indomitable Lions in Yaounde on October 11, before hosting the five-time African champions five days later, and whoever collects more points from the two matches will move top of their qualifying group for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
