Six months before joining Manchester United in 2018, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that he told the club to buy Erling Braut Haaland for £ 4 million, but the club didn't buy the idea.
Solskjaer and Haaland worked together at Molde in Norway. They were aware of his vast potential, but he instead joined Red Bull Salzburg and Dortmund before moving to United rivals Manchester City.
"I called United about six months before I took over and told them that I'd got this striker that we had, but they didn't listen," Solskjaer told the SUN.
"I asked for £ 4 million for Haaland, but they didn't sign him," he reiterated.

During his time at Molde, Haaland scored 20 goals in 50 games, with all of those appearances coming under Solskjaer.
Solskjaer initially became caretaker manager after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, before he then became United manager permanently before his departure in November 2021.
Haaland is enjoying arguably the best debut season of any player in English football and has scored 51 goals in 47 games across all competitions.
The Norwegian broke the record for the most goals by a player in a single Premier League season with 35, ahead of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, who both sit at 34.
As Haaland is having a season of his life at City, United are continuing to endure problems up front and is on the lookout for a new striker this summer, with Harry Kane the overwhelming favourite to join in at Old Trafford.
