Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have confirmed and unveiled the appointment of Charles Livingstone Mbabazi as the new head coach.

On a two-year employment contract, the tactician joins replacement for Leonard Martins Neiva, who was sacked by the club about ten days back.

His immediate task is to turn the club's misfortunes after they suffered two league defeats on the bounce to slip in their chase to defend the title.

After losing to leaders BUL FC (3-2), they were beaten by seven-time champions Express FC 2-0 on Saturday, and they now sit fourth on the table with 24 points, eight behind BUL after 13 matches.

Meanwhile, Mbabazi has recently served at Uganda Premier League side Arua Hill SC, where he doubled as both head coach and majority shareholder.

At Arua Hill in the past two years, Mbabazi has seen the club finish fifth and fourth in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns, respectively.

His experience has seen him enjoy coaching stints at Onduparaka FC, Mbarara City FC, Somalia National team, Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Lweza FC, and Masavu.

He is an ex-international, who actively played for the Uganda Cranes for four years between 1998 to 2003.
