The gaffer reveals the plan that made his side rampant, beating Sharks 6-1.
Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo was surprised by the ease with which his side took apart Kariobangi Sharks in a rather one-sided affair to qualify for the Semi-finals of the Mozzart Bet Cup on Sunday.
Homeboyz thrashed Sharks 6-1 with Vincent Ogolla getting a brace, which is now officially their biggest win margin this season.
“We needed the result today. We worked hard. We wanted to win, but we did not expect this kind of margin. I am pleased with my boys' performance.”
Odhiambo was pleased with the efficiency of his side’s ruthlessness in transitional situations, given all their goals came from exploiting gaps the Sharks midfield and defense left behind when they turned over the ball.

AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz set up a grudge semifinal while Tusker book a date with Ulinzi Stars.
“We knew Sharks are an expansive side that like to work the ball into the net. We noticed that they can tend to turn over the ball playing this way, so It was important that we took advantage by exploiting the gaps that they left behind.
"We had the pace to destroy them and I am pleased that it worked.”
Kakamega Homeboyz will play AFC Leopards in the Ingogo derby in a months’ time in the semi-finals. They are potentially two games away from winning their first ever piece of silverware and qualifying for the cup.
