Oduor, who took charge of Nzoia Sugar before the start of the season, has revealed what led to them losing to Posta.

Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Godfrey ‘Solo’ Oduor has berated his charges for their concentration lapses after losing 2-0 to league leaders Posta Rangers on Friday afternoon.

Nzoia gave Posta a good fight, being resistant for a large part of 70 minutes before Kennedy Ochino’s bullet header broke the deadlock for the Mailmen and Brian Otieno put the game to bed when he turned over possession as Nzoia were attempting to build play from the back.

Oduor, who took charge of Nzoia before the start of the season, has revealed that although he was pleased they executed the game plan well, individual mistakes ultimately cost them all three points.

“I think our game plan was okay only that we conceded from two individual mistakes,” Oduor told Pulse Sports. “These are things we would have avoided had we stayed concentrated for the whole game,” he added.

Oduor has also blasted his charges for their profligacy, saying that they did not “kill the game” with the chances they created.

“The opportunities we got to kill the game, we did not kill the game with them. So we have to go back to the drawing board and give the boys hope so that we can understand how we will win our games again in the future.”

Nzoia have only won one game, their 2-1 win over Ulinzi Stars at the Sudi Stadium in August. They then drew their next two games but lost each of their last three fixtures.

They currently sits in 15th place on the league table, having collected five points from six matches this season.

Oduor returned to Nzoia Sugar after an initial stint as head coach before he left for KCB to serve as Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno’s assistant.

The club is going through a transition after letting former coach Salim Babu leave for Kenya Police FC and losing most of their key players to bigger clubs.
